I think there are fewer sounds more annoying than a busy signal. It taunts you. Furthermore, it reminds you—with its continuous tone—that you haven’t been able to accomplish your goal—to get through to another—that the agenda you wanted to share will just stay put.
Or, just as bad is when you have a dream where you need to call 911 and the authorities don’t answer, failing to respond to your emergency. Not so with God, the supreme authority, argues the psalmist David.
Have you had it with others assailing your character? Are you seriously annoyed with those continually trying to usurp your authority? These are the people that won’t think twice about telling a lie in order to help them achieve their selfish end. Thankfully there is a God that will bring those lies to nothing. He honors those that honor Him, and brings shame upon those that don’t. How often it is that lie-tellers brag about their efforts at falsehood. They boast about the harm they expect to exact on another, but God has His own plan in store when their intended victims call upon Him.
When you’re down and out, it’s hard to see that God has your best interest at heart, but, like the warm sun on a cool, fall day, He will defrost you from the midst of the social cold.
Those that chill you are an angry sort, but if they follow your lead, they’ll spend time in bed praising God—enjoying the peace that it brings—rather than dream about how to spoil the lives of those He favors.
The wicked of the world may do OK financially, but nothing can compare to the prosperity of peace that the Almighty affords His own. He protects them, and fills their lives with His Shalom.

Psalm 4
1Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
2O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
3But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.
4Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
6There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
7Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
8I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.—KJV-
Romans 10:13-- For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.—KJV-
